Hapag ng Pag-asa – Table of Hope

I had the great privilege to live and work in the Philippines for thirteen years. The commitment of the Xaverian Missionaries carried me through extraordinary experiences with some marvelous people, some of the poor of the Philippines. I have also witnessed the culture of poverty that destroys families and strengthens abuse and violence. In some ways hope here is exhibited in an inspiring painting by a Filipino artist, Joey Velasco called the Table of Hope. I also include a video of the artist’s own reflections on the very painting he created through the eyes of the poor all around him. The subject are the very poor children he painted into the scene.
